Conceptual design

Overview

The project involves designing Ann Spa, a renowned Thai spa brand in Manama, Bahrain, with multiple locations and a reputation as the largest spa in Bahrain. The scope of the project includes designing over 70+ massage rooms and 30+ additional rooms including massage room, Stream room, jacuzzi, Restroom, manicuresa and pedicures room. As the interior designer, your role encompasses project management and providing assistance in the interior design process.

Responsibility:

Interior Designer responsible for project development and management, design layout, conceptual, resourcing, presentation, implementation, expediting and construction check.
Researched unique pieces and stores to present and use within the space
Took measurements of existing buildings, meets and bounds.
Created measured floor-plans to effectively place and stage furniture and create accurate floor.
Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment : Design and choose material for build in and loose furniture include hand material and soft material.
Interior Decorators work with all elements of an interior space, including paint, furniture and lighting, to create beautiful and functional spaces that meet clients' needs.
Coordinating furniture placement.

ROLE:

Challenges & sOLUTION:

Language Barrier and Communication: One of the significant challenges is the language barrier between the project team and the construction team, which primarily consists of non-English-speaking contractors. This makes effective communication difficult, especially when conveying detailed interior blueprint dimensions. Overcoming this challenge may require relying on hand gestures, sketches, and finding alternative ways to communicate the design intent.

Limited Local Material Resources: At the project's initial stages, there was a lack of local material resources, requiring extensive efforts to source various materials, from fabrics to tiles, needed for the spa's interior. This necessitated visiting multiple places to find suitable resources that align with the design vision and meet the project's quality standards. Dedicating time and effort to research and source materials from various local and international suppliers can help overcome the scarcity of resources.

Large Quantity of Materials: Given the scale of the spa project, a significant challenge is acquiring a sufficient quantity of materials. Availability of required materials in large quantities can be limited, which impacts the estimated timeline for completing the design. The solution lies in adapting and sourcing materials from different places to ensure an adequate supply and timely progress.

Design Goals:

The main objective is to create a spa environment that embodies the essence of Ann Spa's brand identity, which focuses on providing guests with a harmonious and balanced experience for their body, mind, and spirit. The design should reflect the rich cultural heritage of Thailand and offer a sanctuary where guests can indulge in pampering, rejuvenation, and physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Using the flower as the inspiration.

Separate by each room by the zone, Each zone by the color and flower type. Apply it with the functions of the room: Spa massage room, Restroom, Stream room.

After 7 months of dedicated work, I can't help but feel an incredible sense of accomplishment and growth. Putting in the effort not only helped me advance in my career but also expanded my mindset and personal development.

As I reflect on the journey, I recall observing a young child who initially knew very little, but with great determination, she took on a significant responsibility. Seeing her earnest efforts throughout the day fills me with pride and joy.

In this moment, I find myself speaking out loud, a smile spreading across my face, as I proudly declare, "I'm so proud of myself."
